Josh Abrams

Josh Abrams has been deeply involved in Chicago's creative music community for the past 13 years. He has appeared on over 40 records, including three under his own name: "Cipher" (Delmark), "After" and "Busride Interview" (Lucky Kitchen), and two under the moniker Reminder. In addition, he is a founding member of the bands Town and Country and Sticks and Stones, and he has released records on the Thrill Jockey, Boxmedia, and 482music. Josh is an active member of Nicole Mitchell's Black Earth Ensemble and Black Earth Strings, David Boykin's Expanse, and Mike Reed's Loose Assembly. He has toured throughout the United States and Europe as well as Russia, Japan, and Brazil. Recording include work with Fred Anderson, Hamid Drake, Jeff Parker, Ernest Dawkins, Axel Dorner, Prefuse 73, the Roots, Sam Prekop, Rob Mazurek, David Grubbs, and Matana Roberts. He has performed with Bill Dixon, Neil Michael Hagerty, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Damo Suzuki, Bobby Broom, Rhys Chatham, Jandek and many others.

Josh Abrams is performing with Tareab (a trio with Craig Taborn, Mike Reed, and Abrams) at Elastic Sound & Vision Gallery on October 3. He is also performing a bass duo set with Tom Abbs during that event. Josh is also performing with Fred Anderson, Tim Daisy, and Eric Glick Rieman at the Velvet Lounge on October 9.
