Steve Crall

Stephen Call, Assistant Professor and Visual Arts Program Coordinator at South Carolina State University, was born in Flint, Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Eastern Michigan University and Master of Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina. He has exhibited regionally in the Southeast and Mid-West of the U.S., in England and in Central Europe. As an undergraduate, he won the Emil and Juanita Weddige Scholar, the highest honor in studio art at Eastern Michigan University. Stephen's post-graduate studies include art historical research at the Oberschöenefeld Volkskundemuseum in Gessertshausen, Germany, sponsored through a People-to- People International scholarship. In addition to a continuing exhibit schedule, Stephen, is working on a video-documentary on the theme of return home. In May 2007 he performed as paint soloist with the South Carolina State University Percussion Ensemble in Phillip Glass's 70th Birthday Celebration. Stephen lives in Orangeburg, South Carolina with his wife, Ester, and their cat.

Stephen Crall is collaborating with Charlie Newman and Steve Dalachinsky on a project which is being performed at Café Mestizo on October 4. This performance involves Stephen painting, while Charlie and Steve perform their poetry. Skype is being used so the artists in remote locations are able to see and hear what each person is doing.
